Three Harbors || July 4th-inspired with Unique Vintage

Happy Monday & official start to summer!  We made our way back home to Chicago over the weekend, and what an adventure it was!  Many recaps coming, including today’s - the first of our maritime getaway to the San Juan Islands.  I’ll be taking you to 3 beautiful harbors on the islands, including Roche, Snug, and Friday.  With July 4th just around the corner, I had some fun styling with nautical anchors and a classic American pinup color scheme.  Unique Vintage provided the perfect pieces for a day of harbor to harbor!

We began with breakfast at Roche Harbor, the glamour queen of the 3, with stunning formal gardens amongst a regal-like historic Hotel de Haro.  Roche actually sits at the Canada-United border, and is considered to be one of the best marinas in the Western United States.  Established in 1886, this little town was originally the center for a major lime production company.  Wine followed on our balconies at Snug, the most peaceful and serene of the harbors.  Lastly, we departed from Friday Harbor on a boating trip to watch humpback whales & other beautiful sea creatures in Haro Straight!

While it was a warm day, boating in the San Juan is nearly always chilly, so I knew trousers and a cardigan were essential!  I chose the softest sweater made of a high quality thick knit, and a shockingly perfect fitting stretch navy high waist pant.  Anchors and more anchors marked this beautiful day, and my wicker basket-like tote proved to be a traveler's best friend.  I actually brought it along to nearly every activity on the islands.  It was sturdy and stood on it's own, had a zipper closure, and was cheerful and stylish.  No 4th of July beach party would be complete without it!

Stay tuned for more upcoming outfits and fun from our trip....
