Abandoned Hospital || 1940's October with Top Vintage

Today's location is reminiscent of an old castle in Ireland, but actually we are still in New York City.  Roosevelt Island was once a place of isolation, as patients were sent here for incurable diseases and insanity.  The Octagon was once the "Lunatic Asylum" and is notorious for the mistreatment of it's residents.  Our main backdrop today though is the abandoned Smallpox Hospital, built in 1854, appropriately built in Gothic Revival architecture.  It is equally beautiful as it is eerie, and has been described "a picturesque ruin, one that could readily serve as the setting for a 19th century Gothic romance."

Top Vintage makes it easy to dress for any setting, in any season, and today's outfit is one that I particularly want to live in this Fall!  The Gina Dress is polished, feminine, and comfortable all at once.  I wore it, along with my trusty Frida booties, for a day of walking all around in wind & rain. We went from a diner breakfast in Midtown Manhattan to our adventure on Roosevelt Island - not only did my outfit feel versatile, but I also received random compliments on the street.  This dress is a must-have!
