A little bit french, a little film noir, a little 40's, and a lot of Guastavino tile!
This past spring, french boutique Miss Retro Chic outfitted my warm weather wardrobe with some stunning vintage-inspired clothing, as you might remember. Now I'm delighted to say they've done the same for my favorite season! Today's outfit is of a sophisticated black & white color scheme, highlighted by the classic autumnal print, houndstooth. I styled it with a strong nod to the polished 1940's, but with 50's silhouettes in mind. Pops of baby blue completed my vision, and the look was just right for the brilliant 1907-placed tiles by Guastavino himself. This was one of his displays of his aesthetically beautiful "Tile Arch System" invention, as placed on some of the most prominent Beaux-Arts landmarks in NYC.
